June 2013 In Posse is providing sustainable systems consulting for the Orinoka Mills project in Philadelphia.  We are assisting the New Kensington Community Development Corporation in their efforts to convert the abandoned textile factory into sustainable housing as well as the future home of the NKCDC offices.  NKCDC is working with Enterprise Community Partners in the initial project phases to help define the project goals and vision. In Posse will be volunteering at the SHARE Food Program on June 24th.  SHARE’s mission is to promote healthy living and stronger communities through affordable, wholesome food.  SHARE delivers thousands of pounds of food each month throughout the Philadelphia region.  For more information, visit their web site: May 2013 Shannon Kaplan recieved an award for Distinguished Adjunct Faculty for her teaching efforts at Philadelaphia University. Shannon Kaplan and Rob Diemer will be attending the Living Futures Conference in Seattle Washington from May 15th through the 17th. Rob Diemer will be speaking with Sean O’Donnell of Perkins Eastman on “Net Zero Energy and Schools: The Paradigm in Sustainable Design” at the Maryland and District of Columbia Association of School Business Officials conference in Ocen City, MD on May 21st. April 2013 Rob Diemer will provide the lunch time keynote on “The Energy in Schools:  Hidden in Plain View” at the Delaware Valley Green Building Council’s Green Your Schools workshop on June 7, 2013.  He will talk about lessons learned from designing net zero energy schools and in particular the lesson that the most impactful way to reduce energy use in schools is not by installing new technology but rather, by changing the way people think about energy. Brendan McGrath recently earned certification as an Associate Commissioning Professional by the Building Commissioning Association.  Congratulations to Brendan on another milestone in his career.  Brendan is also certified by the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment as a Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional.  In addition to commissioning and life cycle assessments, Brendan is also one of In Posse’s energy modeling specialists.
